Planning Your Safari

From Enquiry to Safari — Four Steps

01

Choose Your Duration

3 to 10-day safaris — group joining from $920 or private from $1,890. Every itinerary above 3 days covers all four northern parks. Longer means more Serengeti days and deeper intelligence accumulation.

Select Joining or Private

Group joining shares the vehicle with up to 7 guests at a significantly lower per-person rate. Private gives exclusive vehicle use, full flexibility, and complete guide attention. Same parks, same quality wildlife.

03

Confirm Your Departure

Send an enquiry — no payment required. We confirm joining availability within 6 hours and match you with fellow travellers. Year-round departures with a minimum of 2 joining guests per vehicle.

04

Into the Wild

Understanding Group Joining

Same Safari, Lower Cost — How Group Joining Works

Group joining places you in a shared 4x4 safari vehicle with up to 6 other travellers. Same expert guide. Same four parks. Same daily schedule. Same wildlife encounters. The per-person cost is significantly lower because the vehicle costs are shared. Nothing about the safari experience changes — only the price.

The 6-day group joining safari is the most significant value point in the series — three Serengeti days at group joining rates. The private vehicle equivalent costs approximately $1,180 more per person. For solo travellers, small groups, and budget-conscious safari planners, the group joining format delivers a comprehensive four-park, three-Serengeti-day experience at a fraction of private safari cost.

"Three Serengeti days is a completely different experience from two. On Day 6 our guide took us to a location he had been positioning for two full days. He found a cheetah coalition before dawn at exactly the position he predicted. We watched a complete hunt from start to finish. That is what three days delivers."

"The guide explained it perfectly: Day 4 is exploration, Day 5 is precision, Day 6 is mastery. By Day 6 he knew where every significant animal in his area was. We had a Mara River crossing attempt on Day 5 and a successful crossing on Day 6. Group joining saved me over $1,100. Nothing was different about the wildlife."

"The six-day itinerary is the one I recommend to every Tanzania first-timer. All four parks including the Ngorongoro Crater — the most dramatic single wildlife day of my life — and three Serengeti days with an expert guide who knew the ecosystem better each morning. $1,070 for this entire experience is extraordinary value."

Expert Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Tanzania offers excellent safari game viewing year-round. The dry season (June–October) is generally considered the best overall — vegetation is lower, animals concentrate around water sources, and the Mara River crossings peak in July–September. The calving season (January–February) in southern Serengeti is extraordinary for predator action. The short rains (November–December) bring green landscapes and fewer visitors. There is no bad time for the northern circuit.
  • Group joining places you in a shared vehicle (maximum 7 guests) with other independent travellers. A private safari gives exclusive use of the vehicle for your group only. The parks visited, the guide quality, and the daily itinerary are identical on both. The differences: group joining is significantly cheaper (saving approximately $1,180 per person on the 6-day circuit), while private gives full flexibility on timing — you can stay 90 minutes at a sighting rather than moving when the group decides. For most guests, especially solo travellers and couples, group joining delivers the same safari outcome at a fraction of the cost.
  • We recommend a minimum of 5 days (which includes two Serengeti days) for a complete northern circuit experience. The 6-day format, with three consecutive Serengeti days, is the most popular and most recommended because the intelligence accumulation across three days produces qualitatively deeper encounters than two days permits. If budget allows, 7 days with four Serengeti days is the premium private option. For the Great Migration Mara River crossings specifically, three Serengeti days is the minimum we recommend — crossing probability increases significantly with each additional day at the crossing points.
  • Tanzania is one of Africa's most stable and safe countries for tourism, and it is extremely popular with solo travellers. The group joining format is particularly suited to solo travel — you join with other independent travellers and typically form genuine friendships across the safari. All logistics are handled by us from the moment you land. Solo travellers requesting a private single room will be charged a single supplement; sharing a twin room with another solo guest of the same gender is included in the standard group joining rate.
  • All park entry fees (Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti), all nights of accommodation, all meals from Day 1 dinner through the final day lunch, bottled water throughout each day's drives, the licensed expert naturalist guide, 4x4 safari vehicle with pop-up roof hatches, and hotel pickups and drop-offs in Arusha and Moshi. Not included: Tanzania tourist visa (~$50 USD), personal travel and medical evacuation insurance, alcoholic beverages, guide gratuity ($15–$20 per day is the standard recommendation), and any items of personal expenditure.
